Welcome to Puzzle Box Academy!
Selecting the right school and environment for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent must make. Your decision will profoundly influence your child for years to come. Puzzle Box Academy is a private school serving children (currently prek-K through 12th Grade) impacted by Autism and other developmental delays such as ADD/ADHD. The Academy offers customized comprehensive educational, therapeutic and academic plans, integrating proven research-based therapeutic strategies into every learning task.
Our academic programs are student-centered with a special emphasis on building strong foundations, engaging students in the learning process, providing avenues of creativity and development through small teacher/student ratios (5:1). Hands-on, minds-on activities bring students to high levels of thinking and application. Puzzle Box Academy is unique from the public-school settings because it offers year-round school, and additional therapies (such as: occupational, language, art, behavior, social cognition, daily living practice, and peer buddies). There is no model like Puzzle Box in the state of Florida. We believe in the development of a well-rounded student. Our program provides opportunities for students to build skills beginning in pre-k and continuing through 12th grade.
Puzzle Box Academy believes that all students affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders can reach their fullest potential through an education based, in both a structural and playful environment. Each child's particular strengths and challenges are constantly assessed to direct the child's teachers in selecting best practice teaching methods for each individual child. Moreover, Puzzle Box Academy maintains that all students learn with greater ease when their natural interests and affinities are honored throughout the school day. We have an incredible staff and an amazing student body. Our teachers and parents value education and support the school with their time and talents.
Our mission is to convey the warmth and enthusiasm of our dynamic community of students, teachers, staff, and parents in a learning environment that we, Puzzle Box Academy, are proud to offer.
Pamela Holz, Co-Founder
Principal - Puzzle Box Academy
I am the principal at Puzzle Box Academy. Since starting with the company, May 5, 2018, I have learned a great deal about the resources and opportunities for families that have students with special needs. After working in the public- school system for 19 years, I was thrilled to see there were other opportunities for families to receive the additional help and resources needed to meet their child’s individual needs. I absolutely love what we do here at Puzzle Box Academy. Since we have resources for both their academic and therapeutic needs, we are truly able to help the whole child be the best they can be.
I started out as a exceptional student education teacher when I graduated from UCF in 1996. I worked with students with specific learning disabilities for 6 years and then moved to a traditional classroom. In the traditional classroom, I worked with students who were receiving ESE services as well as general education students. I’ve taught all grade levels. After 9 years in the classroom, I went back to school to earn a specialist’s degree in educational leadership. After that, I was a literacy coach, Title 1 coordinator and coordinator for magnet schools and finally a school assistant principal for 8 years.
Even though I sound as southern as they come, I am a native Floridian born in Brevard County. When I was 5, my family moved to Mississippi where my mother was from. When I was a senior in high school, my dad’s job brought him back to Florida and I moved with my parents to Palm Bay, Florida. I’ve been here ever since. I have two children, a daughter, Hannah who is in the Navy and a son, Zachary, who is attending University of Central Florida. My husband is retired from Brevard County Sheriff’s Department and now works as a computer forensics analyst with the postal service. My husband and I live in Viera with Zachary and our two Miniature Schnauzers, Pepper and Lulu.

To do this, she is focused on assisting families with understanding their educational options, embracing the journey that their son/daughter is on, and individualizing the pathway for every child to reach goals that some may view as too difficult, or even impossible. As a team, she believes we can accomplish wonderful things!

I have also completed the RBT course while being employed by Puzzle Box Academy. I now hold the position of Academic Support Specialist for Kaleidoscope Interventions and run the Preschool program at our Nasa Blvd. location.
